    Mount Omuro Climbing Chairlifts

    Designated as a national natural monument, Mount Omuro was formed by a volcanic eruption approximately 4,000 years ago. Its graceful, bowl-shaped silhouette is a symbol of Izu and Ito. The mountain, covered in Japanese pampas grass, transforms in appearance with the changing seasons. Every February, it is set ablaze in a dramatic “yamayaki” (controlled burn), captivating both locals and visitors. A scenic lift ride takes about six minutes to reach the summit, where you can enjoy a 360-degree panoramic view, including Mt. Fuji, the Amagi mountain range, and Sagami Bay.
